Ninehundred and sixty something multi-layered frames. I've already critiqued myself to death over this, I'm so ready to move on. SWF file because quicktime keeps messing with the red scene, I don't know why. If I ever figure out why computers are completely useless at doing things correctly, I re-upload this in the film gallery as a MOV :>

UPDATE: Aaaaand five years later, I have finally converted it >.> Spectrum Examination

Haha, as someone used to the color wheel, it was pretty fun to see the hue variation happening circularly. And wow, that's a rather complex job for a Color Theory discipline (I mean, doing an entire animation). Congatulations.

Oh that's good to hear, I'm slow at these but I heard a bunch of people saying it takes 1-2 days to make one that's a few minutes long.

You can sometimes make them faster if you build puppets and use tweens, but that's not really my thing. Frame by frame, all the way! Haha, I'm oldschool :)
It's all just personal taste, though.

I remember learning color theory, but this is a really good work of art.
Your choice or things to animate are most interesting if not bizarre by the standard things I usually animate.

Just thought you might find this interesting, but I'm in Prof. Varland's current color theory class and he showed off your project to give us an idea of what to do for finals. The amount of work in this is amazing, and it's easy to see why he still likes it so much.

Wow! I'm thrilled to hear that this still sees the light of day! And admittedly a bit flattered :) Thank you!
It certainly did take a good deal of effort to bring to fruition.
Actually I have a bit of a request- I don't mean to impose, and I certainly won't be dismayed if you refuse, but do you think that you could possibly relay a message to Prof. Varland for me?

That is seriously awesome :o. I love everything about this, and especially the hand-drawn animals. That tiger coming out of the forest there was just animated so beautifully <3. I haven't done much outside of regular tweening and movie clips myself. Did you draw those right on the frame or are they symbols?

All of the animals and most of the effects animation are hand drawn, frame-by-frame. I did use symbols and tweens for background pans and zooms, as well as things with more static shapes such as the moon and the comets (though the comet tails are hand drawn).
